4 mpd cards
The fastest repeatable way for most beginners to build a useful balance from eligible everyday spending.
New to miles? Start here. This five-minute guide shows the strongest ways to earn Asia Miles in Singapore without turning every purchase into a research project.
For most people in Singapore, the fastest repeatable way to earn Asia Miles is not flying. It is putting spending you already planned onto the right rewards credit card, earning bank points, and transferring those points when you have a likely redemption.
The beginner target is 4 miles per S$1, often written as 4 mpd. Every card has caps and exclusions. Pay the bill in full: one month of credit-card interest can wipe out the value of the miles.

Earn Asia Miles from a participating merchant and eligible card points on the same planned purchase.
Simple after bonus caps, but normally earns much less than 4 mpd.
Always collect what you are owed, but these are rarely the main earning engine for an average Singapore resident.
Useful when the price and terms are already competitive.
Usually poor value for a beginner; consider only a small top-up for a confirmed redemption.
Miles are a rebate, not a reason to spend more.
You do not need five cards on your first day. Choose the one that matches the largest part of your normal monthly spending.

Headline rates are not guaranteed for every purchase. Transaction type, merchant category, posting date, exclusions and rounding rules decide the points awarded. Check the current terms before applying or making a large payment.
Start here if much of your spending can be paid by tapping a phone or watch. It offers separate bonus capacity for eligible mobile-contactless and selected online transactions.
Its core rule is simple: up to 4 mpd on eligible online purchases, capped at S$1,000 a month. Despite the name, DBS publishes age and income eligibility without a gender restriction.
The physical card itself is not the strategy. For UOB’s mobile-contactless bonus, add the card to an eligible mobile wallet and tap the device. Tapping the plastic card does not receive the same bonus.
Citi Rewards can suit eligible online retail, while OCBC Rewards is strongest for its listed retail merchant categories. The merchant category code—not the item you bought—decides whether a transaction qualifies.
Examples exclude welcome bonuses, rounding and excluded transactions.

You may earn Asia Miles from Cathay and eligible points from the card. Some transactions may not trigger both layers reliably, so follow the live offer’s conditions and confirm that both rewards credited before relying on the setup again.
Add your Cathay number to eligible Cathay Pacific or partner flights. Earning depends on airline, distance, cabin and booking class.
Cathay Shop, Milesback and participating partners can add miles when the underlying purchase is competitively priced.
Compare the miles with the price, flexibility and benefits you may give up by booking through a partner.
Consider topping up only for a specific, available redemption and a small shortfall. Transfers to another member can involve fees.
Transfers are usually irreversible, have minimum blocks, may carry a fee and can take time. Bank points may transfer to several airline programmes; once converted to Asia Miles, they cannot be redirected if your plans change. Pooling points into fewer transfers reduces the fee per mile.
Under Cathay’s current activity-based system, an eligible earning or redemption transaction resets the mileage clock for another 18 months. Older miles may follow different rules.
