4 mpd cards
The fastest repeatable way for most beginners to build a useful balance from eligible everyday spending.
New to miles? Start here. This five-minute guide shows the strongest ways to earn KrisFlyer miles in Singapore without turning every purchase into a research project.
For most people in Singapore, the fastest repeatable way to earn KrisFlyer miles is not flying. It is putting spending you already planned onto the right rewards credit card, earning bank points, and transferring those points when you are ready to book.
The beginner target is 4 miles per S$1, often written as 4 mpd. Every card has caps and exclusions. Pay the bill in full: one month of credit-card interest can wipe out the value of the miles.

Earn Kris+ miles and eligible card points on the same planned purchase.
Simple after bonus caps, but normally earns much less than 4 mpd.
Always collect what you are owed, but these are rarely the main earning engine for an average Singapore resident.
Miles are a rebate, not a reason to spend more.
You do not need five cards on your first day. Choose the one that matches the largest part of your normal monthly spending.

Headline rates are not guaranteed for every purchase. Transaction type, merchant category, posting date, exclusions and rounding rules decide the points awarded. Check the current terms before applying or making a large payment.
Start here if much of your spending can be paid by tapping a phone or watch. It offers separate bonus capacity for eligible mobile-contactless and selected online transactions.
Its core rule is simple: up to 4 mpd on eligible online purchases, capped at S$1,000 a month. Despite the name, DBS publishes age and income eligibility without a gender restriction.
The physical card itself is not the strategy. For UOB’s mobile-contactless bonus, add the card to an eligible mobile wallet and tap the device. Tapping the plastic card does not receive the same bonus.
Citi Rewards can suit eligible online retail, while OCBC Rewards is strongest for its listed retail merchant categories. The merchant category code—not the item you bought—decides whether a transaction qualifies.
Examples exclude welcome bonuses, rounding and excluded transactions.

About 71,040 miles a year5,920 miles a monthAt participating merchants, Kris+ advertises up to 6 KrisPay miles per S$1. You may also earn eligible card rewards on the payment. Transfer each transaction’s earned miles to KrisFlyer within 21 days at 1 KrisPay mile to 1 KrisFlyer mile. Miss the window and those miles cannot later be moved to KrisFlyer.
Add your KrisFlyer number to eligible flights. Earning depends on the airline, distance, cabin and booking class.
Earn on planned purchases when the price is competitive. A large earn-rate banner does not make an expensive purchase good value.
Compare the miles with the price, flexibility and benefits you may give up by booking through a partner.
A sign-up bonus can help, but apply only when the card fits your long-term spending and the required spend is already planned.
Transfers are usually irreversible, have minimum blocks, may carry a fee and can take time. Pooling points into fewer transfers reduces the fee per mile. Do not wait until the final hours of an award search: the seat can disappear while a transfer is processing.
For Basic, Elite Silver and Elite Gold members, KrisFlyer miles generally expire three years after the month in which they were earned.
