How to earn Qantas Points in Singapore

New to Qantas Points? Start here. This five-minute guide shows the strongest ways to earn Qantas Points in Singapore without turning every purchase into a research project.

THE STRONGEST METHOD

Start with a 4-points-per-dollar card.

Qantas calls its currency Qantas Points, not QF miles. For most people in Singapore, the fastest repeatable earning method is putting planned spending onto an eligible DBS or Citi rewards card, then transferring the bank points when there is a likely reward booking.

The beginner target is 4 Qantas Points per S$1, shortened here to 4 ppd. Every card has caps and exclusions. Pay the bill in full: one month of credit-card interest can wipe out the value of the points.

GENIEBUZZ RANKING

Where beginners should focus

01GO

4 ppd cards

The fastest repeatable way for most Singapore beginners to build Qantas Points.

02GO

Eligible flights

Unlike bank transfers, eligible Qantas, Jetstar and partner flights can earn both Qantas Points and Status Credits.

03FAIR

Qantas Hotels

Earn points on eligible stays when the final room price and conditions are competitive.

04FAIR

A general-spend points card

Simple after bonus caps, but normally earns much less than 4 ppd locally.

05SKIP

Buying things for the points

Points are a rebate, not a reason to spend more.

THE BEGINNER SHORTLIST

Match the card to your spending

Qantas lists American Express Membership Rewards, DBS Rewards and Citi ThankYou Rewards as Singapore transfer partners. DBS and Citi provide the clearest 4 ppd routes for beginners.

Headline rates are not guaranteed for every purchase. Transaction type, merchant category, posting date, exclusions and rounding rules decide the points awarded. Foreign-currency rates must also be weighed against the card’s foreign-currency fee.

OUR FIRST-CARD PICK

Choose the rule you can remember

MOSTLY ONLINE

DBS Woman’s World

Up to 4 ppd on eligible online purchases, capped at S$1,000 per calendar month. Despite the name, DBS publishes age and income eligibility without a gender restriction.

ONLINE + SHOPPING

Citi Rewards

Up to 4 ppd on eligible online and shopping purchases, capped by statement month. Travel and other excluded categories can miss the bonus.

The card is a points converter, not permission to spend. Choose it because it matches purchases already in your budget.

American Express Membership Rewards is another official transfer route, but the effective earn and conversion rates depend on the specific card and rewards tier. Check the current conversion screen before treating it as your main strategy.

OTHER METHODS · QUICKLY

Collect them, but do not chase them blindly

Qantas Hotels · FAIR

Earn 3 Qantas Points per A$1 on eligible bookings. Because the rate is in Australian dollars, effective points per Singapore dollar vary with the exchange rate.

Shopping and partners · FAIR

Many offers are Australia-focused. Confirm eligibility, shipping, returns and regional restrictions from Singapore.

General-spend cards · FAIR

Use DBS Altitude or Citi PremierMiles after bonus caps when simplicity matters more than maximum earn.

Buying for points · SKIP

A higher price is not rescued by a points banner. Compare the final price and terms first.

BEFORE TRANSFERRING

Keep bank points flexible.

Transfers are irreversible, require minimum blocks, charge a fee and can take time. DBS says a first transfer can take up to 14 working days and later transfers up to 10 working days. Pooling points into fewer transfers reduces the fee per point.

Qantas Points remain active when you earn or use at least one point through eligible activity every 18 months. Sending points to a family member or receiving a family transfer does not count as qualifying activity for either account.
